These compact Hitachi cordless hedge trimmers are ideal for the small garden or where you want to keep low hedges neat and tidy.

We are currently offering the Hitachi CH10DL complete with sturdy carry and storage case for only £79.99 a massive saving of £92 on the RRP.

The 19cm cutting blade on the trimmer will slice through foliage up to 8mm in diameter meaning it is suited to new growth or fine trimming and shaping of shrubs and dense, small leaved hedges such as Box.

The Hitachi CH10DL is powered by a 10.8v Lithium-Ion battery which can be fully charged in approx 40 minutes. Handy THS80 Push Spreader

Handy push spreaders are ideal machines for using at home or the workplace. Keep your carpark and pavements clear so customers can still get to you safely.

The Handy THS80 and Handy THSS80 both hold 80lbs or 36.5kg of ice melting material, salt and grit. Always make sure you use dry material in the spreader so the distribution is even and doesn’t clog up the spreading holes.

The larger Handy THSS100 wheeled spreader will hold up to 100lbs or 45.5kg of your chosen product.

Stiga Electric Snow Blower

If you are a homeowner wanting to keep your drive or path clear from snow then the Stiga Snow Blower Electric is an excellent choice. This 1800w mains electric Stiga snow thrower has a rubber coated blade and 45cm working width suitable for clearing snow up to 15cm in depth. This lightweight single stage electric snow blower is easy to transport and because of the compact design with folding handle, simple to store in your shed or garage when not being used.

For heavier snow fall or if you have a larger area to clear either at home or work the petrol snow throwers would be more suitable.

The Stiga Snow Rex and WolfGarten SF56 are both excellent entry level petrol machines.

Stiga Snow Rex

The Stiga Snow Rex snow blower is a petrol engined single stage machine with a 53cm working width. It has a 190cc Briggs and Stratton Snow series engine and a 1-8m throwing range. As the clearing rubber coated auger contacts directly with the clearing surface it is suited to hard, smooth surface clearance. The Snow Rex chips the ice and snow, collects it and then blows the snow out of the discharge chute.

The Wolf Garten SF56 is a 2 stage self propelled snow blower with 179cc engine, 56cm working width, 10 inch wheels and recoil start. Petrol 2 stage snow throwers are suited to clearing heavier density “wet” snow or heavy compacted snow of a depth greater then 20cm. The discharge chute on the SF56 snow blower can be adjusted by hand so you can control where the snow is deposited.

Stiga PRO 1381 HST

Professionals require a substantial machine for their snow clearing and the Stiga Pro 1381 is such a machine. The Stiga Pro 1381 HST is a professional two stage snow thrower with a 81cm working width, Briggs and Stratton 342cc petrol engine with hydrostatic transmission, optional electric start, heated handles & headlamp.

2 stage petrol snow throwers collect the snow churned by the saw tooth auger and push it through the adjustable discharge chute at an increased speed meaning more snow is moved a greater distance, this allows the blower to handle deeper snow and larger clearing areas.

This year for the first time Cheltenham Mowers is offering bags and pallets of both white de-icing and rock salt for sale to our customers.

We have all been caught out in previous winters with the low temperatures and large snow fall. By the time the snow is coming down the prices for salt are going up and supplies running out.

The best salt for using around the home and workplace is white de-icing salt. This salt is clean, fast acting and leaves no dirty residue to be tracked inside your house or office.

White salt is a pure product the only additive being an anti-caking agent, white salt is created by evaporating sea water, leaving behind the natural white salt.

Grit or rock salt is the most commonly used de-icer for ice and snow. Normally used in salt spreaders as long as it is keep dry. Grit salt provides friction for better tyre and shoe grit in icy and snowy conditions making it more suitable for roads, pavements and under tyres on the car.

Both the white and rock salt can be used in push and towed spreaders as long as it has been kept dry.

These excellent value for money garden tractors feature 42 inch twin bladed cutting decks and Briggs & Stratton V-Twin engines.

GreenCut 20hp Lawn Tractor

The GreenCut 17.5hp tractor has the 107cm twin bladed deck and a mulch kit included. The cutting heights can be adjusted between 38 and 102mm and the transmission is 6 speed manual. The GreenCut 17.5hp is available for £1499.

In tall growth areas the side discharge mode neatly cuts and spreads the grass so it can be left to wilt naturally. For areas that are being mown on a more regular basis the mulching function cuts and re-cuts the grass into small particles that disappear into the turf, returning valuable nutrients to the soil.

The GreenCut MCR02 V-twin garden tractor is the larger of the 2 models with a 20hp Briggs & Stratton engine, hydrostatic drive, 42″ twin bladed cutting deck, headlights and mulching kit. As with the GreenCut 17.5hp the cutting height of the deck can be adjusted between 30-102mm.The Green Cut 20hp hydrostatic lawn tractor is currently on offer for £1799.

A 210 litre 2 bag collector is available as an optional extra for both the 17.5hp Greencut and 20hp Greencut tractors.

Mountfield Manor 95H Snow Package

The Mountfield Manor Package includes the Mountfield Manor 95H tractor unit and snow plough attachment.

The 95H power unit has a 160cc 4-stroke Honda engine, steel chassis and is self propelled. The handles are adjustable and reversible and the machine has an operator presence control lever for safety. Forward and reverse transmission with large 13 inch tyres make the unit easier to handle over uneven terrain. The Mountfield 95H package has the Mountfield 85cm snow clearing blade included and is currently on offer for £848 a saving of £80 on the RRP.

AL-KO BF5002R Snow Package

Our 2nd Winter Snow Plough Package is the AL-KO BF5002R multi-function power unit and snow blade attachment.

The AL-KO BF5002R has a 5.5hp 4-stroke Briggs and Stratton petrol engine, recoil start and pneumatic tyres. The unit can accept a range of attachments including snow chains, tiller attachment, ridging plough attachment, scythe mower attachment and a 1050mm sweeper brush attachment.

The AL-KO BF5002R Package includes the AL-KO SRS850 85cm Snow Plough attachment and is on offer for £1098 a saving of £90 on the RRP.

If your machine has a battery, remove it and bring inside. It’s a good idea to charge it a couple of times over the winter but always refer to your owners manual first.

If the machine is mains electric storing inside is always the best option but failing that store in a dry place. Don’t wrap the cable too tightly around the machine. Storing it like that over a period of time can weaken and break the wires inside. Also it’s not recommended that you wrap your machinery in newspaper or blankets as these make a nice nest for mice, who will quite happily chew through any wires and cables. You can buy durable covers which will fit most makes of Lawnmowers.

If you follow these simple tips you should find come the Spring your machines working fine.

Agri-Fab 85lb push spreader

With early snow falls in the past we’ve been caught out with the de-icing and gritting of our roads, drives and paths.

Something to consider now is investing in a spreader which can be used for putting down salt or sand on paths or drives. No more standing around in the cold with shovel loads or handfuls of salt.

There are different types of salt spreaders to consider a broadcast or drop spreader and push or towed spreader. A broadcast spreader sprays out a controlled volume of material usually by finger tip control.  The drop spreaders release their material in a straight line and as their names suggest you push some spreaders by hand and some can be towed behind lawn or garden tractors.

Handy THS80 Push Spreader

Push spreaders are suitable for domestic or commercial paths and drives were you can easily walk behind the spreader for a short distance.

Turfmaster towed spreader

Towed spreaders are for larger areas such as roads, public walkways and long drives. These spreaders can also be used for dispensing lawn fertilisers.

Recommended push and towed spreaders are the Agri-Fab 85lb push broadcast spreader, and the Turfmaster SB-4300RD spreader .
