Storing Electric Garden Machinery during the Winter

As with all electrical items keeping them in a shed or garage over the Winter is not ideal. The cold and damp can damage electrics making them unrepairable.

If your machine has a battery, remove it and bring inside. It’s a good idea to charge it a couple of times over the winter but always refer to your owners manual first.

If the machine is mains electric storing inside is always the best option but failing that store in a dry place. Don’t wrap the cable too tightly around the machine. Storing it like that over a period of time can weaken and break the wires inside. Also it’s not recommended that you wrap your machinery in newspaper or blankets as these make a nice nest for mice, who will quite happily chew through any wires and cables.
